Sam Hicks Monument Park is Getting a New Playground!

GOTPdrawingThe City of Temecula has embarked on an innovative and ambitious project to create a one of a kind children’s playground, the Great Oak Playground in Sam Hicks Monument Park. This playground will not only provide a unique and amazing place for children, but will serve as an outdoor exhibit that celebrates the history of the Temecula Valley.

The inspiration is the Great Oak in the Temecula Valley, a Coast Live Oak that is the oldest oak tree in the United States, and possibly in the world. The Great Oak is a symbol of growth and endurance, having stood for more than 1500 years, a silent witness to the historical and cultural threads that have intertwined throughout the centuries to weave the fabric of Temecula.

The Great Oak Playground will celebrate this magnificent tree and the history it represents.  The playground concept will use the “Great Oak” as the ultimate symbol of the history of Temecula.

The Grand Unveiling will occur in Summer 2017! Keep checking back for updates.
